Default 99 camaro z28 brake pedal stiff

so i installed koni yellows and eibach springs on a z28 the other night. and they went in smoothly, but before i got there, a friend had removed the brake master cylinder to reach the two bolts to unbolt the suspension. when they removed the master cylinder, someone pushed on the break pedal and a cylinder type thing came out of the brake booster. they put it back in and when i was finished, i bolted the master cylinder back up with its two nuts, but for some reason the brake pedal is stiff. thanks in advance for the help.
